The Report is Finally Here.....

The long awaited report has arrived, initial thoughts on the subject.

Well, it has finally arrived. I hope this report will be enough to prove what I have been trying to say since 2003. Nothing in the report is news to me, I could jump for joy at finally finding the right consultant who really understands our situation, and with a high enough level of credibility. More than that there is now hope because there is actually treatment and therapy which can be undertaken which will make a significant difference to Db.

In a nutshell Db suffered huge trauma and abuse within the first few weeks of life, which then continued albeit to a lesser degree during the year he was in the care system.

When Db was placed with us for adoption we did not stand a chance, the damage was too severe. Db was never going to be able to make a secure attachment to us without first addressing the trauma.

Db is in urgent need of treatment, I have known for many years that we were not going to be in a position to see Db follow a conventional path through life, if we could keep Db out of prison before the age of eighteen we would have done well.

I will strive to do all that Ican to secure the treatment for Db that he deserves, but I am also aware that it is not just Db who needs support.

Living with such a damaged child brings huge trauma and dysfunction into our family dynamic too. To date this has gone unrecognised and unsupported.
